Myofascial Release Therapy For the Treatment of Chronic Pain

Myofascial Release Therapy is a type of safe, low load stretch that releases the tight tissues and the pain throughout the body caused by myofascial pain syndrome, which describes the chronic muscle pain that is worse in certain areas known as the trigger points.

Fascia is a three-dimensional web that permeates the whole body. The best way to explain this system is to think of it as a layer of connective tissue similar to tendons and ligaments, that starts with the top layer directly below the skin and extends to two deeper layers. When the fascia is in its normal healthy state it is relaxed and supple. When it is restricted, it is more rigid and less flexible. It starts from bottom to top. Superficial fascia, which lies directly below the skin, stores fat and water, allows nerves to run through it, and allows the muscle to move the skin. Deep fascia, surrounds and infuses with muscle, bone, nerves, and blood vessels to the cellular level. The deepest fascia sits within the dura of the craniosacral system.

Myofascial Release Therapy relieves soft tissue restrictions that cause pain. There are several reasons for chronic and acute pain some of them are trauma, cumulative posture misalignment or mechanical deficits, a compressed nerve from a herniated disc, or inflammatory conditions, etc.

When pain is caused by myofascial tightness within the fascia it is very hard to detect by MRI scans or by X-rays. Myofascial Release Therapy detects the affected area and works as a natural medicine upon it. Southwest Myofascial Release provides Myofascial Release Therapeutic Treatment that helps to detect the trigger points and release the stress and pain out of it.
