Myofascial Release Therapy - Case Study

At Southwest Physical Therapy, we apply myofascial release therapy to heal the nagging, chronic myofascial pain and restricted mobility of patients of all ages from all walks of life. Everyone we see is different and unique, with a different story and individualized chronic pain.

Below, please find a case study of such a patient of ours who was living a life that had become pathetic pre-Southwest PT due to crippling back and hip pain that was chronic. Post-Southwest PT, he now enjoys a normal, peaceful life as his life transformationally changed or improved all for the better. He has described below, in his own words, his chronic pain and his journey through the medical universe in search of relief. During our myofascial release therapy sessions with him, we applied various myofascial release techniques to restore his body’s normal balance.

How Myofascial Release Therapy Helped Completely Ease My Back

& Hip Pain.

Before this incredible treatment……

“Before this incredible treatment, I already had back surgery before and the massage worked well. I read a lot about myofascial release, but I couldn’t imagine how it would actually feel on my body.”

During myofascial release therapy treatment ……..

“It’s hard to describe the myofascial release techniques! At first, I felt the pressure of Araceli’s hand somewhere in my body. After a minute or so, I suddenly felt a deep wave-like sensation of a liquid sliding down my back and pushing into my muscles. Stretch it out…and let it go.

I kept saying “This is weird! “It doesn’t hurt at all, it just feels like a strong water wave reminiscent of a wave maker in a swimming pool!

The “wave” wants to use my back as a superhighway and whiplash or go all over the place in different directions on my back, maybe in search of the places that need attention. Sometimes it feels like a kind of stickiness or gooiness. Like a cornflower substance.

I couldn’t tell whether Araceli’s hand was still there, because the body moves the fascia “muscles” unknowingly or unconsciously!

At one point, I held my hand and pointed to the area where I thought I felt it was moving. Araceli’s hand was not close to her. It is difficult to describe the massage that I’ve experienced before.”

Afterwards……..

“I felt so very relaxed afterwards. It was Heavenly! In pure paradise where pain and suffering are nonexistent. I also had an immense sense of excitement I was trying to contain because I was finally starting to believe I’d be healed because I was starting to feel and see all the markings of it, if you know what I mean. I was experiencing a new type of treatment that really stretched all the problem areas of my back, shoulder and buttocks muscles and glutes.

I found that the myofascial release therapy sessions grounded and balanced me and I felt more connected to and in tune with my body. This normally is the phenomenon I experience after myofascial treatment. After undergoing just six full sessions, I can happily assure you I am no longer disabled by pain, my peace and my balance have been restored, and I’m enjoying my life again – able to once again partake in all the activities I love. I can’t thank SPT and myofascial release enough! Pain who? I don’t know that word!”

Hahaha Life is great again! I strongly recommend you do yourself, your body, a favor and go for myofascial release therapy. I affordably got the results I needed and with no side-effects. Wowww Still can’t believe my luck and I couldn’t beat that – my only regret is that the other problems in life cannot be resolved like this.”
